Dulverton 200-7 (26 pts) beat Holford (5pts) 90 all out by 110 runs
HOLFORD’S inconsistent season continued on Saturday – comprehensively beaten by Dulverton just a week after recording an emphatic victory against Wiveliscombe.
Having headed deep into Exmoor, Holford lost the toss and were invited to field - but hoped to make the most of a sporting pitch with variable bounce.
And when Ian Jeanes (3-32 from 12) reduced the home side to 24-2, Holford sensed the chance to dismiss Dulverton for a cheap score.
But batsmen Lee Hooper and Graham Turner had other ideas, propelling the hosts to 122 before Turner was dismissed by Paul Smith (3-54) for a commanding 55.
Hooper was eventually run out for 63, but with contributions from the middle and lower order, Dulverton reached 200-7 at the end of 40 overs.
Following their successful run chase last week, Holford’s batsmen strode to the wicket in confident fashion, but little could prepare them for the carnage that was to ensue. Through a combination of variable bounce, poor shot selection and lack of application, Holford’s batting order crumbled against bowling that was little more than accurate.
With only three players reaching double figures, and the top score being 13, the visitors had 20 extras to thank for them even reaching 90.
Liam Snell (4-28 from four) and captain Smith (3-17) were the pick of Dulverton’s bowlers as they ran out winners by 110 runs.
