OVER Stowey Cricket Club recently held their annual presentation evening, to celebrate their 2017 season.
After announcing his retirement from league cricket, club chairman and West Somerset League stalwart Phil Rich was awarded a Lifetime Achievement award by president Wendy Hill, to recognise his 40 years playing for one club.
Award winners:
Clubman - Sara Barrow;
Batting, highest club score - Jack Rich for his 171 not out (it also earned him an award from the West Somerset Cricket League);
1st XI Batting - Simon Penny, who averaged 133.4 for the season (this also earned him an award from the West Somerset Cricket League);
2nd XI Batting - Kieran Barrow, average of 28.3;
Bowling, best figures - Michael Barrow, with 7-48;
1st XI Bowling - Jack Rich, 31 wickets with an average of 13.4;
2nd XI Bowling - Sam Thomas, 24 wickets at 12.62;
1st XI Catches - Simon Penny and Jack Rich, 7 catches apiece;
2nd XI Catches - Sam Thomas with 5;
Most improved young player - Kieran Barrow;
Most improved player - Sam Thomas;
1st XI Player of the Year - Joint winners: Jack Rich and Simon Penny;
2nd XI Player of the Year - Kieran Barrow;
Players’ player - joint winners: Simon Penny and Sam Thomas;
Hole in the Hand - Mark Sortwell.
The club thank Wendy Hill for arranging the evening, Windsor Catering for a fantastic meal and all who contributed during the season.
