WEPL Premier One Second XI

Bridgwater II 123-3 beat Keynsham 119 by seven wickets

BRIDGWATER II made it two wins out of two with a convincing seven-wicket victory over Keynsham at the Parks.

On winning the toss skipper Scott Sealey had no hesitation in inserting the visitors, and the home side were led by Daniel Rossiter and Louis Stephenson with the new ball.

Stephenson (2-23) took two wickets in his opening spell to reduce the visitors to 31-2 and Rossiter was unlucky not to pick up a couple of wickets in a very good spell.

First change bowlers Ed Habberfield (3-19) and Scott Clapp (3-23) then exerted a stranglehold on the Keynsham batting, with only opener Jon Baker (36) offering any resistance as the visitors fell to 81-6.

The introduction of Andrew Skidmore's (2-22) off-spin provided no let up as he picked up two wickets to polish off the tail, as Bridgwater caught well to dismiss Keynsham for 119 in the 44th over.

After tea, Bridgwater lost Ben Coombes early, but Liam Kitch played some nice shots to get the home side off to a good start, supported by his captain Sealey.

Skidmore arrived at the crease and immediately went on the offensive, punishing the Keynsham bowling with four sixes and four fours in an undefeated 47, as the home side raced home in 26.3 overs.

ECB National Knockout

Bridgwater 96-0 beat North Petherton 95 by ten wickets

FOLLOWING Saturday’s win over Clevedon, Bridgwater recorded another impressive victory in the ECB National Knockout, trouncing North Petherton by ten wickets at the Parks.

Bridgwater were asked to field first by the visitors and soon began to make the most of that decision as Singleton (3-23) made early inroads into the North Petherton top order.

Lloyd Irish (42) was the only Petherton batsman to get going as Bridgwater regularly picked up wickets.

Habberfield (3-43) and Davis (2-16) kept the pressure on the visitors and once the former had removed Mike Burns with the score at 81-5, North Petherton collapsed to 96 all out in just 30 overs.

Andy Hallaran and Chris Gange (23) set about chasing down the target in imperious fashion, with Hallaran hitting the ball to all parts - his 75 came from just 41 deliveries, including 14 fours and 2 sixes- as Bridgwater made short work of the chase.
