LIAM Kitch scored 88 for Bridgwater A as they overcame Kilmington & Stourton by ten runs in Division 1 of the Best Western Somerset Cricket League on Saturday.

The left-hander top scored for Bridgwater in their total of 220-5, before captain Dan Rossiter tore through the Kilmington batting to return figures of 6-35.

Elsewhere in the division, Middlezoy’s game against Purnells was abandoned with the hosts on 115-1 – M. Troman (55no) and I.

Lacey (35no).

In Division 2, Jay Darrell took 4- 27 for Kilve but they were beaten by five wickets by Barrington.

C. James top scored for Kilve with 50 as they posted 135 batting first – but it was well below par and Barrington reached their target with relative ease.

J. Sellick scored 42 and took 2-42, but it wasn’t enough to prevent North Newton from slipping to a 44- run defeat at Huish & Langport.

J. Stone also added 46, but Newton fell well short of Huish and Langport’s 245-5.

Mark slipped to a five-wicket defeat at Cheddar II in Division 5 after being bowled out for just 149 batting first.

S. Tinklin (32) and S. Blake (27) both made solid contributions, but the pair lacked any real support, leaving Cheddar a far from testing chase.

In Division 6, Chilton Polden were humbled at home by Butleigh, who scored an imposing 244-7.

In reply, Chilton were all out for 114 with only J. Adams (43) in the runs.

J. Rawles fell two short of a deserved century as Wembdon Wyverns beat Burnham II.

Rawles scored 98 in Wembdon’s total of 267-5 – Will Pope also added 50.

In Division 8S, North Petherton were seven wicket winners at Spaxton thanks to 4-27 from T Smith.

Smith’s haul saw Spaxton rolled for 166, before B Williams (55) and Ed Stone (42) eased Pethy to victory.
