Wembdon II 158-7 beat Taunton II 138-5 by 20 runs (match reduced to 28 overs)
WEMBDON II secured an eighth league victory of the season with a 20-run triumph over Taunton in a rain-reduced clash on Saturday.
Mike Watts (36), George Lowe (31) and Tom Lott (20) fired Wembdon to 158-7 from their 28 overs, while Liam Pigden (11no) and Tim Bennett (11) provided late fireworks.
Alastair Cook was the pick of the Wembdon bowlers as they restricted Taunton to 138-5.
Cook’s off-spin returned figures of 2-33, while there was one wicket apiece for Tom Lott (1-8), Tim Bennett (1-21) and Jack Lowe (1-20).
The result takes Wembdon to fourth place in WEPL Bristol & Somerset Second XI.
