BRIDGWATER seamer Chris Skidmore enjoyed a successful debut for the ECB Unicorns on Sunday in their YB40 match against Middlesex at Lords.

The 22-year-old took 2-31 from his eight overs, as the Unicorns went down by one wicket at the home of cricket.

Skidmore, who has missed much of the season through injury, took three wickets for Bridgwater on Saturday, but it wasn’t enough to prevent them losing out by just two runs.

Despite the defeat, Skidmore says the experience is one he will never forget. He said: “I wasn’t sure if I was going to be playing, we had a 14-man squad there. I found out I was playing about an hour before the start, so it wasn’t much time to get my head around it.

“It’s been a frustrating season with injury, so I’ve only played five or six games. But to go from there to playing at Lords was one extreme to the next. Hopefully I can just stay fit and maybe play a few more games for the Unicorns.”
