North Petherton won a thriller against Middlezoy in Division 1, holding on by just one run.

Batting first, North Petherton reached 162 all out, thanks to 46 from M Burns and 39 from H Roberts.

In reply, N Barnard struck 45 not out to take his side to within touching distance of the win, but Petherton held on to record the victory by the smallest of margins.

In Division 2 Bridgwater A beat Cheddar by 49 runs, thanks to 5-27 from D Rossiter.

The opening bowler’s spell helped to bowl Cheddar out for 129 in pursuit of Bridgwater’s 178-6. Earlier, J Stone had made 67 to take his side to a winning total.

North Newton experienced very different fortunes as they were beaten by five wickets by Bagborough.

Batting first, Newton were bowled out for just 81. In reply, Bagborough lost early wickets but reached their target without really breaking a sweat.

A century from W Pope powered Chilton Polden to a 63-run victory over Peasedown St John in Division 7.

Pope (105) was well supported by Hedges (37) and Darlington (31) as Chilton posted 225-6 from their 45 overs.

In reply Peasedown were all out for 162, with Hedges (4-13) and N Mogg (2-32) doing the majority of the damage to seal a comfortable victory.

Elsewhere in the division, Middlezoy II were thrashed by 150 runs by Temple Cloud.

Chasing 261 to win, Middlezoy crashed to 110 all out, with only J Musgrave (39) and G Purchase (26) making any significant contribution.

In the same division, North Petherton II were beaten by 27 runs by Wells II.

Petherton were bowled out for 153 in pursuit of Wells’ 190-9, as only J Blackburn (43) and P Derbridge (31) threatened to take Petherton home.

Spaxton were shot out for 97 against Winscombe, providing their opposition with an easy second innings chase.

Only G Wales (33) and K Bellinger (11) reached double figures for Spaxton, as Winscombe cruised to victory.

In Division 8N, Wembdon Academy hammered Chilton Polden 2s by 123 runs thanks to an outstanding performance from M Johnson.

Wembdon batted first and posted 226-9, with Johnson scoring a superb 75, with good support from by K Futcher (28) and C Hughes (26).

Chilton’s chase never really got going as they crashed to 103 all out, with Johnson taking 4-30 from his eight overs. M Weston also chipped in with 3-22 as Wembdon rounded off a resounding victory.

Andy Holliday continued his outstanding form with another century in Division 9NW as Bridgwater Sports beat East Huntspill II by 93 runs.

Holliday struck 124 in Bridgwater’s total of 218-9, before P Winter (4-18) and J Winter (3-55) ran through the Huntspill order to bowl them out for 125.
