A BEN Whitemore half-century wasn’t enough for Bridgwater as they crashed to a six-wicket defeat at Frocester on Saturday.

Whitemore struck 67 in Bridgwater’s total of 178-9, but Frocester cruised to victory inside 40 overs to seal a comfortable six-wicket win.

Batting first, Bridgwater got off to a terrible start; losing their first four wickets with just 19 on the board, and it got a whole lot worse as Witts (0) was dismissed to leave Bridgwater 41-5. But Whitemore, together with Habberfield (43), set about repairing the early damage and put on 90 for the sixth wicket, before Habberfield was caught off the bowling of Davis. Some lower-order hitting carried Bridgwater to 178-9, but it was a below-par total.

In reply, Frocester’s opening pair cruised to 103-0 before Habberfield (2-29) made the opening breakthrough. Higgins (1-32) and Clapp (1-25) were also in the wickets, but Frocester were never in trouble during their pursuit and reached their target in the 39th over.
