MIDDLEZOY Rovers completed a double celebration this week as their teams won the Somerset Intermediate Cup and gained promotion.
The first team secured promotion to the Somerset County League First Division in their first senior league season with a draw at Burnham United Reserves.
The Reserves team also beat Pensford 2-1 at Taunton Town Football Club to win the cup thanks to goals from Josh Lewis and Sam Lewis.
In a lively start, Pensford had two long-range efforts in the first 15 minutes until after 42 minutes when Jamie Temlett fizzed a ball across the box for Sam Lewis to poke the ball home.
Just before half time, Pensford equalised but shortly after the re-start Middlezoy went 2-1 up thanks to a low drive from Josh Lewis.
Team: Warren, Lintell, Brewer, Phillips, Williams, Burland, Berry, James, Singleton, Temlett, S Lewis. Subs: J Lewis, Modley, Prescott, Russell, Portlock.
