HIGHBRIDGE Town could well have a say on deciding the league championship this season after holding contenders Locomotives to a goal-less draw on Saturday before hosting other title hopefuls Staplegrove this weekend.

Bridgwater Sports managed to hit the goal netting, in fact three times with the home side Dulverton only doing so once. Paul Organ scored twice for Sports and Joe Daly once, Nick Phillips replied for Town.

In Division Two, champions Middlezoy Rovers came unstuck to a Wembdon Saints side battling for a promotion spot losing 3-1. Tom Brown put Rovers ahead but Jake Collard levelled things up before the break. Scott Harman put Saints in front in the second half before John Doyle ensured that Saints took all three points.

Westonzoyland still hang onto the third place despite losing 3-0 to runners-up in waiting Hamilton Hawks for whom Rob Chambers, Andy Clark and Aaron Coles all scored. Westonzoyland have played more games than the other contenders and must be looking over their shoulders making the away game to come at Wembdon Saints all the more important.

In Division Three, Blagdon Hill still need four points to ensure them of the inevitable championship after another big win on Saturday beating Bridgwater Sports Reserves 7-2. James Bryce scored a hat trick, Liam Vaughan added two with Matty Francis and Gary Sinar one each, Adam Long and Leon Dodden netted for Sports. Stogursey beat Sydenham Rangers 2-0, goals from Daniel Glover and Ian Bellinger, and Merry Monk beat Highbridge Reserves 5-2, Ryan Bradford and Lewis Morrell both getting a pair with Adam Reed adding the fifth, Tom Bailey got both Highbridge goals.

Minehead and Wembdon drew 2-2 in a late kick-off game, Zac Ryder and Lee Todd scored for Minehead, Si Lukins and Joe Cresswell for the away side.

Division Four saw Milverton Rangers looking favourites to take the Division Four title after a 4-2 away win at North Petherton Reserves, Steve White, Callum David and Pete Chapman all scored a goal each with Tom Warren coming off the bench to provide an assist and score one himself, John Mathews and Dan Barnes replied for Pethy.

With several games in hand Gallery look likely runners-up even though they didn’t play this weekend.

Galmington Dragons still have promotion ambitions and just have to keep winning as they did this weekend beating Morganians 5-2, both Howard Radford and Chris Tucker scored twice and Joe Jones one, Matt Brewer and Liam Tomlinson responded for Morganians.

Alcombe Rovers Reserves are also there or there abouts after a 3-0 home win over Rhode Lane Wanderers, Janusz Jasielczuk hit the net twice and Troy Hopwood once.

Bridgwater Sports Colts are still in the bottom two despite an 8-0 home win over Porlock Reserves, three players got a brace namely Alex Turner, Toby Gillard and Craig Savage with Josh Smith and Luke Coles providing the other two.

Division Five saw Sampford Blues Reserves close the gap on the leaders Tone Youth but they too were held to a 3-3 draw with Nether Stowey Reserves. Luke Woodgate, Jon Stone and Warren Toth all scored for the Blues, Dave Rowsell scored two of Stowey’s goals with Sampford providing the third with an own goal.

Woolavington can still take the title if they win their games in hand and they stayed on target with a 4-2 home win over Middlezoy Athletic. Josh Corkett scored two and Harry Taylor one but the pick of the bunch came from player manager Justin Cook who took a free kick from well inside his own half, the bounce deceived the Athletic keeper and much to his embarrassment went in, Alex Troman and Paul Hamlin scored for Zoy.

Staplegrove Colts beat Wembdon Saints Reserves 6-3, Jake Quick scored two, Michael Bastow, Jake Pantling, Michael Wilson all scored one with Dennis O’Leary converting from the penalty spot, Paul Goss got two of Saints goals and Gareth Mountstevens the other.
