FOOTBALLER Bethany-May Howard has won a scholarship to play football at Rider University in the USA.
The 17-year-old is studying her A Levels at Bridgwater College and plays for the women’s football academy.
Her playing career started when she was just five years old and attending Butleigh Primary School, after which she progressed to various junior teams, including Ashcott, Butleigh and Somerset under 16s.
Andy Gill, Associate Lecturer at Bridgwater College and Bethany-May’s manager, put her forward for the England Colleges’ trials, where she was successful in gaining a place in the national team and played a number of international matches across two seasons. It was at one of these training camps that a representative from Pass4Soccer inspired Bethany-May to pursue a scholarship in America.
She said: “I am incredibly nervous about moving to America but I’m more excited now to see how things will develop, especially after my visit there in February.”
