Brislington 2, Bridgwater Town 0

BRIDGWATER Town were unable to get back to winning ways on Saturday, as two second-half goals condemned them to a third straight defeat and gave hosts Brislington the three points.

The Robins came close to the opener on 12 minutes, as Jack Jenkins' dipping volley from 25 yards came back off the crossbar, before the hosts had an effort ruled out for offside.

Ryan Burrows and Shaun Copp spurned further opportunities for the away side, and the teams went into the break with the scoreline blank.

The visitors continuing to put pressure on, and Burrows' deflected shot was well saved, and Dave Pearse headed just over from the corner.

But the breakthrough came for the home side on 62 minutes, as Josh White conceded a penalty, which was converted straight down the middle.

And it was 2-0 to Brislington 12 minutes later, their striker was in the right place to score from a cross to the back post.

Jake Llewellyn was denied by a one-on-one save, and Josh White saw a goal disallowed for an apparent foul on the goalkeeper, as the Robins slumped to defeat.

Bridgwater, now ninth in the table, tackle league leaders Street this coming Saturday, December 23, in a 3pm kick-off at Fairfax Park.
