Toolstation Western League
Premier Division
Longwell Green Sports 1, Bridgwater Town 3

BRIDGWATER Town moved up to seventh spot in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division after a 3-1 win at basement side Longwell Green Sports on Tuesday night.

The Robins were on top from the outset, with Steve Holland forcing a good save from the home keeper after a sharp turn, but they had to wait until the 42nd minute for the breakthrough, as centre-back Lee Begg powered home a header to claim his first goal for the club.

But they were caught napping a minute after the restart, Longwell scoring from a corner to equalise.

The away side were struggling in the incessant rain, but went ahead again on 63 minutes, Jack Taylor continuing his superb goalscoring form since joining the club as he converted Harry Horton's fine cross.

The hosts pushed for another equaliser, and Jake Viney had to make a smart save to keep his side in the lead, but Mark Armstrong - on for the injured Mike Duffy, himself a substitute - wrapped up the win a minute into added time, tapping in following a set-piece move.

The win takes Bridgwater up to 23 points and seventh spot, three points behind sixth-placed Shepton Mallet with three games in hand.

On Saturday they have another league encounter, at home to Chipping Sodbury Town (ko 3pm), who they beat 4-0 in the Les Phillips Cup last weekend.

Bridgwater Town: Jack Viney, Charlie White, Josh White, Lee Begg, Jake Llewellyn, Steve Holland, Harry Horton, Jack Jenkins (Mike Duffy 67 (Mark Armstrong 86)), Shaun Copp (Kurt Robinson 83), Dave Pearse, Jack Taylor.
