Odd Down 0, Bridgwater Town 1

JACK Taylor's late goal gave Bridgwater Town three deserved points away to Odd Down on Saturday, bringing them within two points of their hosts, and the top half of the Premier Division table.

After a quiet opening to the match at a windy Combe Hay Lane, with no chances of note in the first 25 minutes, Syd Camper got his head to Shaun Copp's cross but his effort was easily saved by Ed Baldy.

At the other end, Jake Viney was called into action to keep out Asa White's shot, holding it at the second attempt.

Taylor had a half-chance to open the scoring before the break, but having beaten two defenders and keeper Baldy to the ball, his lob drifted wide of the post.

After the restart, Copp's curling effort forced Baldy to tip the ball round the post, but the hosts then enjoyed their best spell of the game, with a number of efforts narrowly off target and Viney forced into a decent save of his own.

But from there it was the Robins who were in control, as Copp fired over from a good position and Tyne Govier headed just past the post from Mike Duffy's cross.

A brief moment of danger saw Kye Simpson test Viney with a solo effort, before Taylor's flick from Harry Horton's mis-hit shot was just kept out by Baldy.

However, the Robins - and the in-form Taylor - were not to be denied the win, as he reacted quickest to Duffy's knee-high cross, nipping in to head home on 85 minutes.

The visitors saw out the win with a minumum of fuss, and their next task is another away fixture, as eighth-placed Cribbs next Saturday (November 4).

Bridgwater Town: Viney, Thorne, Robinson, Armstrong, Govier, Begg, Copp, Duffy, Taylor, Camper (Burrows 65), Llewellyn (Horton 74).
