Pre-season friendly
Bridgwater Town 2, Taunton Town 1
BRIDGWATER Town warmed up for the start of their competitive season with a 2-1 win at home to local rivals Taunton Town.
A crowd of 257 watched the hosts triumph thanks to goals from Syd Camper and Callum Ham.
After early chances for both sides, the Robins took the lead after 16 minutes, as the visitors afforded Mark Armstrong too much time to find Camper with his cross, and there was no mistake with the close-range finish.
The visitors were level inside five minutes, however, as Ben Adelsbury scored from a free-kick, curling the ball into the bottom corner.
It was level at half time, but five minutes after the break Peacocks keeper Lloyd Irish clumsily upended Camper in the box, and Ham netted the spot-kick.
Few chances followed as the game became bitty and ill-tempered, and the home side saw out their win.
Bridgwater are again in action at Fairfax Park on Saturday, August 5, as they host Keynsham Town in the the FA Cup extra preliminary round (ko 3pm).
