BRIDGWATER Town will be looking to refocus their attentions to on-field matters after a turbulent week behind the scenes.
Saturday’s game against Bishops Cleeve was postponed, and the Robins travel to third-place Banbury United on Saturday, with manager Paul West still in charge – despite reportedly being sacked on Tuesday night and then reinstated.
West’s dismissal is said to have been met with huge disapproval by the club’s players, with captain Josh White resigning.
But West - who is very popular with his players and who has overseen some good progress on the field this season - was reinstated just a few hours later.
Clive Kemmish and Jason Depledge have now stepped down as interim chairman and interim vice-chairman.
Town face a tough test at Banbury, who were 2-0 winners at Wimborne last weekend and now sit four points behind leaders Cinderford.
The Robins then welcome Slimbridge to Fairfax Park on Tuesday (February 9), before travelling to Yate Town on February 13.
Town are 19th in the Southern League Division One S&W table, nine points clear of the bottom two - currently made up of Burnham and Bashley.
Next Tuesday’s opponents, Slimbridge, also fell foul of the wet weather on Saturday, when their home clash against leaders Cinderford was postponed - they are 15th in the table, having won seven of their 25 games.
Bridgwater Town Reserves host Chilcompton Sports this Saturday, in the Somerset Premier First/Division Cup. Kick-off is 2pm at Fairfax Park.
