Southern League Division One S&W
Bishops Cleeve 1 Bridgwater Town 0
BRIDGWATER Town have dropped back into the Division One S&W relegation zone after going down by a single goal at Bishops Cleeve.
With Town travelling on the back of an impressive 4-1 win against Burnham, and Bishops Cleeve enjoying a short run of wins, this fixture was destined to be a battle for both teams.
The first-half saw very little opportunities for both sides - Ollie Chamberlain had a chance, but good defending from Bishop Cleeve defender Aaron Drake stopped the visitors from going one up.
Bridgwater’s injury woes continue as just before half-time, Josh Wadham had to be taken off due to a wrist injury, later confirmed as being broken which sees him out for at least four weeks.
Town were much the better side the first-half and the frustration was evident at half-time.
Bishops Cleeve came out in the second-half looking more determined and were rewarded on the 51 minutes when substitute Ed Major scored.
Bishops Cleeve could have been 2-0 up if it wasn’t for some strong defending by Town.
New signing Josh Klein-Davis had a late attempt with a free-kick, but his effort was well saved.
But the outcome was all but decided in injury time when Sam Towler was shown a red card after an incident between him and Cleeve’s Price who also received a red card.
Bridgwater were by far the stronger team and deserved more, but a determined Bishops Cleeve took the vital three points and the Robins slip back in to the drop zone.
