BRIDGWATER Town manager Richard Fey bemoaned a number of missed chances as the Robins went down 2-0 at home to Yate Town on Saturday.

The visitors netted either side of the half-time interval, but not before Fey's side had spurned numerous chances to take the lead - and the manager has urged his players to bounce back from the defeat when they take on high-flying Merthyr Town on Saturday.

Fey said: “Saturday was frustrating again - we played well on Saturday but we didn't take our chances.

“Ross McNab and Kyle Tooze had good chances in first half and then we conceded to a sloppy free kick which was a good header.

“The second was poor as the ball went out in front of our dug out and the linesman didn't flag - and 30 seconds later the ball is in back of our net.

“It's a shame because we been on a great little run and kept three clean sheets in four, but Saturday wasn't to be and now we travel away to Merthyr who are 15 games unbeaten and just beat Taunton 2-1 in front of over 1000 supporters.

“It's going to be really hard but I do want to give praise to our supporters because Saturday they got behind us from the off and the atmosphere was good, it was just a shame we couldn't get a result for them.

“But to hear we're taking a near enough full coach to Merthyr again, it's brilliant and I hope they turn out in numbers when we play Odd Down a week on Tuesday in quarter finals of Somerset Cup at home.

“It's a game we can do well in and try and bring a bit of success back to this club and their support definitely helps these young lads.”
