Southern League Division 1 South and West

Bridgwater Town 0, Yate Town 2

YATE Town completed a comfortable double over Bridgwater Town, as they beat the Robins 2-0 at Fairfax Park on Saturday.

Jordan Rogers scored either side of half-time for the visitors, to condemn Bridgwater to a tenth league defeat of the season.

The home side had a few early opportunities to take the lead, before a couple of impressive saves from Ben John kept them on level terms.

Jake Cox's free kick found James Byrne and his effort was dipping under the bar before John tipped it over with some help from the crossbar.

From the following corner, John was again called into action, as Cox's cross was met by Rogers who forced the keeper into a cracking save.

It was no surprise when Yate went ahead on 34 minutes, as Rogers timed his run to perfection to head into the net.

Yate thought they had doubled their lead on 43 minutes, but Ford's header was ruled out for offside.

Early in the second-half, Town went close to drawing level, as Tooze fired a powerful effort just wide of the post.

But Yate scored a second soon after, as Rogers' 40 yard volley cleared everybody and nestled in the net with John off of his line.

Town were unable to get a significant effort on target, despite having a few chances to do so - and Yate keeper Horsell was rarely troubled.

Yate were the better side on the day and this was an accomplished away-day performance by them.
