CONGRATULATIONS go to Middlezoy Rovers Reserves, crowned champions of Division 1 in the Invest Southwest Taunton Saturday League thanks to a comprehensive 5-1 win at Wembdon, writes Matt Whelan

Middlezoy have been the dominant force in the division all season, and to wrap up the title with such a convincing display against an in-form Wembdon was the icing on the cake.

Wembdon also dropped points earlier in the week, a 0-0 draw against Alcombe Rovers.

Alcombe will finish in the top half after ending the week with a 3-2 success at Creech Cougars, thanks to goals from Lee Todd, Ben Graddon and Luke Senior.

Creech also drew 3-3 with Ash Rangers, meaning they need to win their final game to have any hope of beating the drop.

Morganians enjoyed a perfect week, winning 5-2 at Woolavington before destroying Porlock 10-1.

Cameron Birch was in a devastating mood, notching seven goals over the two games.

In Division 2, Redgate need just four points from their final three matches to secure the title.

They beat Staplegrove Reserves 5-3 to move level on points with the current leaders Watchet Town Reserves, with goals from Corey McKay (2), Liam Price, George Wilkinson and Cam Wilkinson.

It was a mixed week for Grove, who lost 2-0 against Minehead Reserves but won their final game of the week, 3-2 against Porlock Reserves.

Before this, Porlock beat Norton Fitzwarren 1-0 in a must-win game at the bottom.

Norton’s misery was compounded as they also lost 5-2 to Minehead AFC Reserves.

Bridgwater Grasshoppers picked up a vital three points by beating Stogursey 5-3, as Shane Thompson netted a hat-trick, but then suffered a 4-1 loss at Dulverton Town.

Liam Hole and James Kelland both scored twice for Dulverton, who drew 2-2 with Butlins earlier in the week.

Stogursey won 4-1 against White Eagles.

FC Castlemoat sealed the Division 3 top spot after a hard-fought 2-1 win at North Curry.

A 7-0 mauling of Exmoor Rangers had set up a tense afternoon for Moat, who knew a win would seal the title.

Ben Evett gave them a first-half lead before Jacob Dyer secured victory in the second half.

Middlezoy Rovers Athletic completed their season with an 8-0 drubbing by Norton Fitzwarren Reserves.

Norton Fitzwarren Reserves are up to fourth after beating North Petherton 4-2.

On form, Norton are the team to beat, having made it 10 games without defeat in the league.

Second-placed Wembdon Reserves suffered a huge blow, as they lost 3-0 at Exmoor Rangers.

Sydenham Rangers won both their games, 5-0 at Morganians Reserves and 5-3 against Bridgwater Sports Colts.

In the League Knockout Cup semi-final, Bridgwater Sports Reserves beat fellow Division 2 side Watchet Town Reserves 4-0.

Bishops Lydeard Reserves grabbed a cup final place in the Rowbarton Charity Cup, as they beat league companions Bridgwater Sports 3-1, overturning a 1-0 deficit at half time to progress.

In a West Somerset Rose Bowl semi-final meeting between two Division 1 sides, Ash Rangers and Westonzoyland played out an enthralling encounter.

The match ended 3-3, as Zoyland equalised in the dying minutes to force a penalty shootout.

Lee Hellier had come off the bench to score twice for Ash, with Harvey Puddy also netting.

James Millard hit two for Zoyland, with Callum Butt also on target.

Dan Bidgway was the Ash hero, saving Zoyland’s final two kicks to clinch it 8-7.
