BRIDGWATER Town co-managers Karl Baggaley and Dave Pearse are hoping for a vast improvement as their side head to Bitton tomorrow (ko 3pm).

The postponement of Monday’s clash at Chipping Sodbury gives Town over a week to stew on a dismal derby defeat at Wellington on Good Friday, with both bosses expecting better this weekend.

Baggaley said: “We got what we deserved - nothing.

“It just seemed like they wanted it more. They treated it like a derby whereas we treated it like it was just another game.

“The team massively let everyone down and I made sure they knew that.”

Pearse added: “It’s the first time I’ve really had cause to slam the team for their attitude.

“A few of them looked like they didn’t really want to play in the conditions and we played as if we expected just to turn up and win.

“It’s very disappointing to let Wellington do the double over us - that’s not good enough for where we want to be.”

Looking ahead to this weekend, and their trip to Bitton (a team they beat in the Les Phillips Cup last month), Baggaley said: “We produced probably our best performance of the season to beat them 4-0.

“But they are one of the best teams in the league on their day so we’ll have to be ready.

“We are close to full strength - we’ll have Jake Viney and a few others back so we’ll go there with confidence.”

Pearse is also expecting a tougher proposition than they were met with at Fairfax Park recently and added: “They will want revenge for the cup defeat and they have some quality players.

“We are expecting a massive response from our lads - if we turn up with the same attitude as [against Wellington] we could be in for a hiding.”
