BRIDGWATER Town player-manager Dave Pearse is confident his side can progress in their Les Phillips Cup quarter-final at home to Bitton on Saturday.

The Robins are going for their third home win in a week, having beaten Cribbs and Odd Down in the league to cement their place in the top six, and are boosted by the returning Jake Viney, Mike Duffy, Steve Holland and Dave Thorne.

Pearse said: “The games are coming thick and fast.

“Last time against Bitton we only lost to a worldie free-kick and a penalty, so I think we owe them one and we’ve improved since that game with nine wins in 11.

“Karl [Baggaley] and I have said from the start that this is a competition we want to go far in, and we’d love to give our season a grandstand finish.

“Hopefully we can kick on a bit in terms of our performance levels from the win over Cribbs.”

Elsewhere this weekend, Bridgwater Town Reserves head to Wrington Redhill in the Somerset County League Premier Division and Middlezoy Rovers are on the road to mid-table Nailsea United.
