Toolstation Western League Premier Division

Bridgwater Town 3, Clevedon Town 1

TWO goals from Jack Taylor and one from Jack Jenkins helped Bridgwater Town to an impressive 3-1 home win over Clevedon Town at Fairfax Park.

All the goals came in an eventful first half, with Taylor breaking the deadlock on 25 minutes as he got in between the goalkeeper and the defender to poke home Syd Camper's through ball.

The lead was doubled when Jenkins latched on to a loose ball in the box and fired home, and two became three on the stroke of half-time when Mike Duffy played in Taylor to convert his second.

That was not the end of the first half action, as there was enough time for Clevedon to pull one back and set up an interesting second period.

It didn't turn out that way, however, as the hosts created mainly half chances, though Mark Armstrong did have the ball in the net only to be foiled by an offside flag.

Town's match was one of just three in the division to survive the weather, and the victory saw the Robins leapfrog Clevedon into seventh - and just three points off fifth - ahead of next weekend's trip to Cadbury Heath.

Bridgwater Town: Jake Viney, Charlie White, Mark Armstrong, Lee Begg, Kurt Robinson, Harry Horton, Jack Jenkins, Mike Duffy (Dave Thorne), Syd Camper (Steve Holland), Dave Pearse, Jack Taylor (Ryan Burrows).
