Toolstation Western League
Bridgwater Town 4, Buckland Athletic 1
BRIDGWATER Town shrugged off a mixed run of form in the league by showing their potential in a 4-1 beating of league leaders Buckland Athletic.
After defeat to Bradford Town - co-manager Dave Pearse bemoaning their slow start - their tempo was superb from the start, and they were rewarded with a third-minute goal from new signing Shaun Copp.
The visitors levelled 10 minutes later - but four minutes after that the Robins were back ahead, as Pearse turned and fired home.
It was 3-1 on 27 minutes, as Mike Duffy hit the bar but the hosts kept the ball alive and Jack Taylor, another new addition, slotted in.
The Robins took their lead into the break thanks to a fine save from Jake Viney, and three minutes into the second half Josh White saw a header cleared off the line.
But in the 52nd minute it was 4-1, as Taylor scored his second following a fine move.
That sealed the points for Bridgwater following a superb performance, and they sit 13th in the table - three points off eighth.
On Wednesday the Robins go to Hengrove Athletic in the Somerset FA Premier Cup (ko 7.30pm).
