BRIDGWATER Town boss Dave Pearse was left unhappy by his side’s first half display in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Bradford Town.
The Robins conceded two before the break and, though the second half display was an improvement, new signing Jack Taylor’s goal proved to be just a consolation.
Reflecting on the match, Pearse said: “We didn’t show up in the first half and sat too deep, allowing them to play their game.
“At half-time we told the players to take the game to Bradford, but they put 10 men behind the ball.
“We have to start making the most of when we are on top in games, as well as keeping our concentration when we have scored.
“There is a lot of experience in our dressing room and a lot of players who have played at a good level, so it is time for them to take more responsibility.”
That squad has been added to by striker Taylor as well as Shaun Copp, who has been signed from Barnstaple.
On the new players, Pearse said: “Jack has come in from Wellington, where he scored 20-odd goals last year, as he lives in Bridgwater and wants to play for his local team.
“Shaun can unlock a defence and we hope he will be our creative spark.”
This Saturday, Bridgwater host leaders Buckland Athletic (3pm).
