Pre-season friendly
Somerton Town 0, Bridgwater Town 2

BRIDGWATER Town kicked off their pre-season schedule under new management duo Karl Baggaley and Dave Pearse with a 2-0 win at Somerton Town on Saturday.

The Robins took a ninth-minute lead at Gassons Lane thanks to Charlie White, and it remained 1-0 through to half time.

Their opponents - who finished fourth in Somerset County League Division 1 West last season - gave as good as they got in a competitive fixture, and it took until the 78th minute for Bridgwater to double their lead.

Jamie Howson made it 2-0, which is how the match finished.

The Robins' next match is away to Nailsea & Tickenham, a Somerset County League Premier Division side, on Thursday (July 13, ko tbc).

The Robins have been given a bye to the second qualifying round of the FA Vase, where they will travel to face the winner of the St Austell versus Bishops Lydeard match.

And finally, the Les Phillips Cup (the Western League cup) will see Bridgwater host Chipping Sodbury, with a date to be confirmed for that fixture.
