BRIDGWATER came home with a hard-earned point but could have snatched all three in the second half.

Travelling to sixth-placed Shortwood, they began positively and created the better chances early on.

Deservedly, they took the lead just before the break when good work from George Kellow set up Syd Camper, who fired home.

The home side came out after the break in determined mood, pegging back Bridgwater.

Eventually, they grabbed the equaliser through Nick Hancock and set up a grandstand finish.

Both they and Bridgwater missed gilt-edged chances but had to settle for a point a piece - a fair reflection.

The point means Bridgwater are still at the bottom of the table but the performance continues the young team improvement.

The impressive draw sets up a testing week for Bridgwater Town as their young squad try to make up for a poor start.

First, tonight (Tuesday), they welcome derby rivals Tiverton Town for a Southern League Division 1 South & West match.

Tiverton have made an impressive start to their campaign, lying third in the division and unbeaten in 11 matches.

And Bridgwater will again need to be at their best on Saturday when they face fifth-placed Swindon Supermarine at Fairfax Park (ko 3pm).

n BRIDGWATER Reserves travelled to Nailsea Utd in the Somerset County Premier on Saturday and were beaten 7-0.

This weekend, they face another tough encounter at third-placed Stockwood Wanderers.
