Southern League Division One S&W
North Leigh 3, Bridgwater Town 1
A BATTLING performance from Bridgwater Town’s young guns wasn’t enough to prevent a 3-1 defeat at the hands of unbeaten league leaders North Leigh on Saturday.
Ollie Chamberlain was on target for the Robins midway through the first-half, but goals from McNish, Osborne-Ricketts and Morgan Williams secured a comfortable win for the visitors.
As expected, the home side started brightly, but it was Bridgwater who went closest to opening the scoring on 15 minutes when O’Sullivan forced a smart save Foster in the North Leigh goal.
North Leigh grew into the game and went ahead on 33 minutes courtesy of a clinical finish from McNish, who latched on to a through ball before slotting past Viney.
They doubled their advantage four minutes into the second-half when Osborne-Ricketts sliced through the visiting defence before applying the coolest of finishes.
Town continued to battle and pulled a goal back 20 minutes from time, as Ollie Chamberlain scored with a delicate lob from just outside the penalty area, following a mix-up in the North Leigh defence.
But the hosts put the result beyond doubt on 80 minutes when Morgan Williams fired home a free-kick to condemn Town to a 3-1 defeat.
