BRIDGWATER Town manager Richard Fey has backed his young side to cause an upset when they take on Yeovil Town in the semi-final of the Somerset Premier Cup tonight (Tuesday).

The Robins head into the game as underdogs, but Fey believes they are capable of pulling off a shock result when the Glovers come calling.

“We have had a great season and tonight we face Yeovil Town in the semi-final, so we aren't expected to beat them for obvious reasons - but the same as when we played Weston and Merthyr, these lads have a shock in them.

“Saturday we face Evesham, who need to win to have a chance of runners-up spot, so again its two games we can enjoy and hopefully get another two good performances - Charlie bridges and Josh Hayward from the under 18s are added to the squad tonight, so it’s a good chance for them.”

Fey also said he was satisfied with Saturday’s goalless draw against ‘a very good’ Cinderford side, especially considering the number of injuries to his squad.

“I was pleased with a point against a very good team in Cinderford.

“We travelled there with an injury-hit squad and then lost Dave O’Hare in the warm-up, so I had to name myself on the bench.

“They had a lot of possession and we had the better chances, especially Tom (Knighton) and Joe (Bushin) had two great chances - but it's another clean sheet and 20th of the season, which is excellent for a young back four, that has included Nathan Rudge and the other three young lads for majority of the season.

“Ben John in goal has been excellent and going into next season, if we can keep these young boys together and add some more goals, then the future looks promising.”

Kick-off is 7.45pm at Fairfax Park tonight - admission prices on the night will be £8 for adults, £6 for OAPs and concessions and Under 16's will be admitted for free.
