BRIDGWATER Town striker Tom Knighton certainly isn’t one to complain about a hectic Christmas schedule as he and his teammates face up to three games in eight days.
Knighton, who netted twice for the Robins on Boxing Day in a 3-0 victory over Clevedon Town, says he relishes the jam-packed fixture list over the festive period and hopes his side can continue their impressive away form when they take on Mangotsfield and Bashley on January 1 and 3.
He said: “I really enjoy playing on Boxing Day, some people ask how we manage it, but I’d rather be playing football than sat around at home.
“We have done really well lately and picked up some good results – I think the lads have really started to gel as a team and some of the lads who have stepped up from lower leagues are playing really well.
“Mangotsfield will be a really tough game, we’ve got a few lads with Bristol connections in the squad, including myself as I used to play for Mangotsfield – so we know how tough a game it’s going to be, because they have underachieved so far this season.
“Then Bashley is a potential banana-skin for us – they’re struggling this season, but we’re not getting too far ahead of ourselves and know what we need to do.”
