BRIDGWATER Town manager Richard Fey slammed the decision to send both Dean Griffiths and Kyle Tooze off during Saturday’s 2-1 FA Trophy defeat at Egham on “a day to forget” for the Robins’ boss.

Griffiths was shown a straight red card for a tackle in the first-half, while Tooze received a second yellow card for kicking the ball against an advertising board – and Fey was disappointed with the two decisions.

He said: “The two sendings off just weren’t red card offences – Griffiths was sent off for the way he went into the challenge, but there were far worse tackles than that throughout the afternoon that weren’t punished.

“Kyle Tooze’s dismissal was just strange - they’d been awarded a free-kick and he kicked the ball against the hoardings and it rebounded back to where the kick was going to be taken from. Nobody appealed but the referee thought it was worthy of a second yellow and sent him off.

“But what I can’t fault is the lads that played for us, they put in a big effort and I can’t fault any of their efforts and commitment.

“Egham set out to intimidate us throughout the day and the lads stood up to it really well.”
