Thatcham Town 3, Bridgwater Town 1

BRIDGWATER Town slumped to 3-1 away defeat at the hands of Thatcham on Tuesday night (November 19) with their worst performance of the season, writes Eddie Robinson.

An early injury to Chris McGrath forced the central defender off after just six minutes, causing a defensive reshuffle.

Thatcham took the lead on 33 minutes when Yashwa Romeo scored from close range, despite Bridgwater's appeals for offside.

Apart from long range efforts from Wilson and Miller, Bridgwater created very little, with too many players below par.

Hopes of a second-half comeback were dashed when Loxton was dispossessed in midfield and a long kick down field caused a mix-up between Wright and Warren.

Striker Romeo was again on hand to accept the gift.

The Robins pulled a goal back just three minutes later when Mitchell Page flicked on a free-kick, but for the remainder of the game they never once tested the 'keeper.

Thatcham, who themselves have been on a poor run, sealed the game when good play enabled Romeo to complete his hat-trick against defending more reminiscent of Juliet.

Bridgwater host Swindon Supermarine at Fairfax Park on Saturday (3pm KO) hoping to put an end to a poor run of results.
