West of England Premier League Somerset Div: Uphill Castle (4) 98 lost to Wembdon (20) 161-8 by 63 runs
FOLLOWING their narrow defeat by Winscombe the previous weekend, Wembdon again decided to bat first on Saturday at Uphill, where the boundary on one side of the square looked quite short.
Resident Australian Russell Peck returned and opened the innings in fine form until he left a ball that moved back and was bowled for 13.

His fellow opener Andrew Dodden also departed with the score on 14 and Rob Palmer followed him back to the pavilion for a duck.
Wembdon were 14-3 and once again, Alex Bailey and Simon Gitsham looked to build a recovery. Uphill's South African Brandon Reid was bowling a good line and proved difficult to get away, but in the searing heat, both opening bowlers gave way to Sam Trego and Kennedy.
Trego deceived Alex Bailey in the flight and his well-made 30 had had moved the total on to 52 with 22 overs bowled.
There were some steady partnerships for the rest of the innings and Wembdon reached the 45th over on a respectable 161-8, with valuable contributions from Gitsham and the watchful Harry Lee, together with some big blows by Jon Brockwell.
Trego had the very respectable figures of 2-31 from 13 overs, his crafty flight mixed in with some faster balls, and Reid bowled economically for his three wickets.
When Uphill replied, skipper Davidson went on the attack and 17 runs came from the first three overs. However, he lost opening partner Wynn lbw to Brockwell for a single.
Further wickets fell around him and he was fortunate to survive a vociferous caught-and-bowled appeal off Bailey as he reached a hard-hitting 50, including 9 fours and a six.
New bowlers Lee and captain Dan Bingham both soon settled on a good line and length and when Davidson tried another big drive, Wembdon celebrated as Bingham, who went on to finish with five wickets, bowled him for 54.
No other batsmen was to reach double figures as Wembdon held their catches, with Lee and Bingham cleaning up the innings to record a comfortable win.
On Saturday, Wembdon host Street and will be aiming to avoid the early batting failures that have dogged them so far.
