Pethy Under-15s lose their final match
North Petherton Town U-15 1, Staplegrove 2
PETHERTON played their final game of the season on Thursday against the beaten cup finalists. With nothing at stake, the first half was dull and Staplegrove took the lead with a lob over Charlie Gibbs in goal.
In the second half, Petherton started to play football, with Scott Turner and George Lowe working hard in midfield. They levelled the scores when Turner broke free to guide his shot past the keeper. With the game entering its final phase, Staplegrove retook the lead, but Petherton kept trying right up to the final whistle.
A season that had started so well for Petherton fell apart in the last few games with a mid-table finish, a good result in their return to the first division.
Martyn would like to thank all the players and parents who turned up each week and also the team's sponsors, Cropper and Naum Construction Ltd.
Anybody who wishes to play under-16 football next season can contact Martyn on 07919-172337.
