South-West Women's Premier

Bridgwater Town Ladies 1, Cheltenham Town Ladies 2

THIS highly entertaining Premier Division game saw both side create numerous chances but unfortunately Bridgwater fell to a 2-1 defeat to their Cheltenham counterparts.

The first half was an even affair with Town starting the stronger, and hitting the post. Cheltenham came back strongly and had the ball in the net only to see it struck off for offside.Cheltenham went ahead after 36 minutes when a shot through a crowded goalmouth saw the ball fly past an unsighted Fay Edwards in the Town goal.

Town thought they had levelled mid way through the half, when Katie England put the ball in the net after an Anneka Russ pass, only to see it ruled out for offside.

In the 75th minute, Town's luck changed, when a long right wing cross by Anusia Rourke caught out the Cheltenham keeper and the ball went in at the far post to level the scores. But with five minutes to go, a long cross found the Cheltenham right winger, who fired it past Edwards.Next Sunday, the Ladies are away to Weymouth Ladies.
