KINGSCLIFFE Short Mat Bowls Club started the new season when their Acorns side, playing in the Taunton and District League Second Division entertained Ashcott.
In the two triples matches Acorns picked up three points with one win and a draw. After the interval Ashcott took both matches to gain four points to add to their one in the triples. Acorns however managed to keep Ashcott's shots tally down in the triples to enable them to pick up the two bonus points for highest overall shots on the night.
The scores were (Acorns names first): Eric Shackleford, Judith Shackleford (capt) and June Woodmand drew 7-7 against Pauline Richardson, Janet Lacey, Margaret Francis; on the other mat Merv Selway, Mollie Gay, Dave Poole won 17-5 against Ken Rogers, Jean Bagg, Terry Francis. In the pairs Carol Fishlock andGraham Wood went down 5-11 to Mary Bisgrove and Jenny Todman and Keith Fishlock and Colin Gay lost 6-10 to Terry Lacey and Paul Bartlett.
