ENMORE Park Seniors embarked on a busy two days with back-to-back fixtures away at the Isle of Wedmore club and then at home to Tiverton.

The team’s faltering away form continued at Wedmore with a 6-2 loss. Enmore’s only straight win was secured by Peter Hamshere and John Rigler, victors by 3&1. The other point was gained by two halved matches; firstly by the pairing of Paul Waplington and John Newell and secondly by Roger Pond with Ray Hancock.

The home fixture produced a very welcome return to form with a fine 4½ to 1½ victory over Tiverton, recently crowned Senior champions of Devon. Both teams had to negotiate the sight of the recently fallen giant, iconic oak tree as they approached the 10th green. Ray Hancock and Graham Pain led the way with an excellent 7&6 win. Other winning pairs were Mike Sullivan and John Patterson, 4&2; Mike Cavill and Gerry Oates, 3&2; David Pascoe and Derek Kelly, 3&2; the half point was gained with the last putt of the round by Iain Stewart with Roger Anniss.

Enmore Men drew 3-3 at home to Mendip in seriously wet conditions. Martyn Collard and Matt Lazenby won one up. Nigel Wixon and Fred Henderson won 7&6, Brian Glover and Steve Hill won 3&2, Mike Sullivan and Pete Clarke lost on the last, Rob Fear and Adrian Ward lost 2&1 and Keith Wilson and Peter Hanlon lost 5&4.
