Somerset 1
North Petherton II 13, Wellington II 10
AFTER a 53-0 drubbing from St Bernadettes last week Petherton responded with a tight win over Wellington 2nds on Saturday, writes Simon Gingell.
The first half was almost total Pethy dominance and returning players really boosted the back line with one of them, centre Russ Williams, scoring the first try.
The other try, scored by his brother Ben, led to a 10-0 lead, the strong Wellington side unable to get out of their half.
In the second half, it was Pethy’s turn to defend and Sam Tozer and Tyrone Harris both held players up over the try line before Wellington scored a try and then both teams slotted over a penalty each.
l A tough test faces the team on Saturday against table-toppers Midsomer Norton (ko 3pm).
