IN the Rowbarton Charity Cup, the all Taunton & District Saturday League Division 3 contest between Sydenham Rangers and Bishop’s Hull was won by Rangers 4-2 as Martyn Milton, Cam Wilkinson, Kyle Winter and Les Pope all got on the score sheet.

Wembdon were 3-0 up after just 15 minutes against Alcombe Rovers Reserves thanks to goals from Si Lukins, James Caddy and Ben Cheffey but they were 3-3 at full time and lost in extra-time.

It was a big task for North Petherton Reserves to take on top flight side Bridgwater Sports and they went down 5-0, Mike Skidmore, Matt Fursland, Paul Organ, Mason Gill all scored for Sports with Pethy providing the fifth with an own goal. Westonzoyland fell to a 1-0 defeat to Dulverton Town but Nether Stowey Reserves had a giant killing by beating Division 3 side Redgate 3-2, Sam Granville and Jack Hamblin struck for Redgate but Dave Rowsell, Josh Johnson replied for Stowey with an own goal.

Nether Stowey beat Morganians 7-1, George Pike and Dale Shepherd both scored two goals, Jan Kadzolika, Brad Hayes and Lee Harvey all added one each, Sam Weston scored the home sides consolation goal. Jack Reed, Mike Watts and George Wilkinson helped East Bower progress through to the next round by beating Staplegrove Colts 3-0.

In league Division 1, SRL All Saints lost for the first time in a 4-1 defeat against table toppers Locomotives despite Leighton Ballantine’s goal.

Predators are still undefeated after their 6-1 victory over Alcombe Rovers thanks to Carl Jones who hit two with Chris Taylor, Jack Taylor, Gary Head and Matt Washer all adding one each.

Highbridge Town’s match at home to North Petherton was postponed as there was no appointed referee according to the league’s website.

In Division 2, Wembdon Saints beat Watchet Town Res 4-1 thanks to a hat-trick from Scott Harman and one from Jason Hitchcock and Middlezoy Rovers Reserves lost 2-1 to Hamilton Hawks.

Division 3 saw Bridgwater Sports Reserves beat Highbridge Town Reserves 3-0, Steve Wood opened the scoring with a towering header, Simon Caddy who had been on a year’s goal drought added the other two.

The Gallery lost 2-1 to Galmington Dragons in Division 4, despite young striker James Gibbs scoring.

There were goals galore at Rhode Lane Wanderers where they beat Norton Fitzwarren 5-4. The Taunton side took the lead but Rhode Lane pulled it back to 5-2 in the second half before hanging on for the win.

Bridgwater Sports Colts lost 3-1 to Dulverton Town Reserves despite Alex Turner’s reply.

And in Division 5, Bridgwater Grasshoppers lost 11-0 to Tone Youth and Middlezoy Athletic won the game of the new boys beating Galmington Dragons Reserves 2-1 thanks to two Dave Warren goals, one of which was a penalty.
