Jupiter 57, Newton 28
THERE was a fresh look to the line up for Jupiter, as they began their first game against Newton. Jupiter intended to dominate the game from the beginning and they succeeded, leading 31-14 at half time.
Great communication and defensive work by Lisa Durant and Imma Matcham led to numerous turnovers, which were successfully converted to goals. Overall a very strong team performance and a great start to the season.
Joint players of the match - Lisa Durant and Imma Matcham
Neptune 52, Dukes 35
SATURDAY saw Neptune take to the court for their first match this season. The line up took a few minutes to settle but they then found their rhythm.
Captain Chris Durant (C) linked superbly between defence and attack ably supported by Hazel Hucker (WD). Positive coaching from Cath Clark gave the team focus and this was reflected in the scoreline at the end of each quarter.
The team dominated the final fifteen minutes in all areas. The shooting combination of Rachael Selway (GA) and Lianne Fothergill (GS) capitalised on many opportunities, Fothergill rarely missing. An encouraging start to build on.
Player of the match - Chris Durant
