MIKE Coles hailed Bridgwater’s win on Saturday as the perfect tonic to bounce back from their previous surprise defeat against Taunton St Andrew’s.

The team now sit pretty at the top of the table after producing a 142-run win over Downend on Saturday and Coles was full of praise for his side.

He said: “I could not have asked for any better; Ian Bishop bowled the best he has this season with good rhythm and in the right areas and Josh Vickery and Steffan Jones really got us going in the middle order.

"With that deck we felt that anything around 200 would be enough.

"We were quite solid in the field, we bowled in the right areas and early wickets put them on the back foot - we did not let up on them."

Bridgwater take on Bristol in the league this Saturday and Coles is aware of the threat that the weekend's opposition will throw at them.

He said: "They are a solid team and they have had three games abandoned but are still in mid table.

"It is a nice place to play and we are going into the match full strength."
