DAVID Dixon ended a tough week at the Saint Omer Open in a tie for 70th spot with a four round total of 298. His challenge in the event, which he has previously won, got off to a disastrous start as he covered his opening nine holes in seven over par.
He finished with a 77, just as he did in 2008 on his way to victory, and his second round proved to be the high point of his week as he posted an excellent two under par 69 which saw him make the cut by two.
With two early birdies on Saturday it looked like history may just be starting to repeat itself but strong winds took their toll and numerous bogies saw Dixon drop down the leaderboard.
His final circuit of the quirky French course saw much him compile another 76. Only three of the 156 strong field managed to break par at the conclusion of the event.
Dixon now moves into a crucial period of his season as some big money events are on the horizon starting with the BMW International Open in Munich.
