SAM Masters has qualified for the final of the World Under-21 Speedway Championship after finish fourth in his semi-final meeting in Italy.

Masters scored 11 points from his five rides to finish equal with Dane Michael Jepsen Jensen, but was placed fourth after a run-off between the two riders to determine the final podium position.

Unfortunately it wasn't such a happy night for Somerset's other three representatives in the semi-finals, Kyle Newman and Alex Davies finishing in 11th and 13th place respectively in Italy, while Tom Perry was placed 14th in the other semi-final that was held earlier in the day in Ukraine.

The Finals to determine the 2012 World Under-21 Speedway Champion comprise seven rounds starting out in Italy on July 21 and ending with two rounds in Argentina in November, with the British round being staged at Coventry on August 17.

* CLAUS Vissing suffered a punctured and deflated lung as a result of a fall in heat 11 of Somerset's Premier League match at Sheffield.

Initial CT scans would indicate that Vissing has suffered no broken bones but the club expect to receive an update on his condition once he has been seen by the hospital specialist.
