Minehead Under-13s returned home from Chard on Sunday celebrating a tenwicket win in the Taunton and District County Youth Cricket League.

The Minehead youngsters certainly redeemed the performance of their senior second team who had lost at Chard the previous day.

Captain Jordan Baker won the toss and had no hesitation in asking Chard to bat. His decision was immediatly proved right as opening bowlers Elliott Binding and Jamie Savage took no time in taking wickets.

Jordan Baker then joined in the fun bowling with pace to see Chard struggling on 14-3.

Debutants James Gregory and Matty Ronan were then thrown the ball and ripped through the heart of the Chard batting taking two wickets each with their swing, along with Ben Howe who took two more, including a superb stumping from Archie Marsh with his excellent leg spin.

Tidy bowling was also seen from Oliver Cole, Joe Ferris , Callum Bryant and Callum Illman and a run out from Ronan along with some excellent fielding meant Chard were bowled out for 53 in the last over.

In reply, openers Ben Howe and Jordan Baker continued where they left off in the previous game putting together another 40 run opening partnership in only six overs before Ben Howe who was punishing every ball, retired on yet another 30 runs.

Vice-captain James Gregory then joined his captain Baker who was playing the anchor role, hitting successive boundaries to win the match in only the seventh over to win by ten wickets and keep Minehead Under-13s top of the league.
