Sydenham Gems 42, Knights 39 GEMS started strongly to take a first quarter lead of 18-8.

During the second quarter, Hannah Clapp and Nicola Hale remained on form, shooting accurately and receiving well-placed passes from Kelly Radford and Amy Witcombe.

Knights came back into the game in the third quarter and they held a slight lead at the start of the fourth quarter.

But great interceptions from Kerry Hobbs, Rachel Lawrence and Danni Keirle in defence and good work from Gems’ shooters paid off as they won by three points.

Gems will now meet Trident in the final on April 24.

Sydenham Sapphires 31, Swans 28 SAPPHIRES managed to get an early lead and they finished in front at half time, thanks to great passes and support from Emma-Jayne Brown and Laura Coombes ensuring that Helen Martin and Hannah Read were able to score those vital goals under great pressure.

Carly Martin tipped and intercepted numerous passes, and encouraged her team all the way.

Swans pulled back in the last quarter, with the score standing at 26-26 with just a few minutes to go.

Sapphires held strong and the fresh legs of goal attack Sandra Fry and strong defending from Nic Hale and Sue Bushnell meant Swans were unable to convert their goals.

Sapphires will now meet Bridgwater Jupiter in the final on April 24.
