THE cold snap is taking its toll on Bridgwater Town Football Club with manager Rob Dray saying everyone is itching to get back playing again.
Town's match against Clevedon was postponed due to a frozen pitch but with no match this weekend, Dray's men are not in league action until February 25 against Sholing.
The team trained indoors on Saturday but are keen to get back outside in match action again.
Dray said: “We only had two matches planned for this month anyway so to have those called off is frustrating.
“It throws everybody when you can't play and you can't replicate match practice by training indoors - we could only work on some short sharp stuff.
“It is also frustrating that the lads who are suspended are still unavailable because their bans carry over.”
Secretary Roger Palmer said that the club were prepared for a lack of fixtures this month.
He added: “The club have known since November that we would have 2 free Saturday's this month so we have budgeted accordingly.
“The postponement is no more than a slight inconvenience as regards cashflow with the only real effect being the added and unbudgeted expense of extra training sessions being booked by the manager to be paid for.
“The players are paid by the game rather that weekly so no game no wages to find - they'll get paid when the game is rearranged.
“The pitch at Fairfax Park is doing well bearing in mind we've had 56 games on it so far this season - with another 44 to come as it stands.
“The problem on Saturday was the area of the pitch in front of the away dugout up towards the corner where there was standing water that had turned to thick ice which was considered dangerous by the local referee who did the pitch inspection.”
Dray announced that the club have extended the loan period of Yeovil front man Rob Clowes by one month and that forward Kyle Thomas will join the club for the remainder of the season after he returns from studying in America.
