FOR most of the first quarter, these closely matched teams went goal for goal as the ball swung from one end to the other.
The inevitable breakthrough was created by a superb interception from centre, Emma Reynolds and despite the height disadvantage, the shorter, nippier Kais Holleron found space in the circle where there appeared to be none, to put away a crucial goal.
Bridgwater seized their advantage and continued to inch ahead, displaying fantastic teamwork. A low scoring second quarter for both sides was a testament to the strength of defence as captain Hannah Symes and Morgan Middleton kept the lid on the Storm attack.
Mary King provided excellent support at wing defence to give the home side a four-goal advantage at half time. Storm seized the advantage early in the third quarter despite Courtney Steele and Reynolds working tirelessly around the circle while goal attack, Imogen Setter's versatility in attack and in the circle kept Bridgwater at the top of their game.
At 30-30 going into the final quarter both teams fell victim to wayward passes as the pressure began to tell. Bridgwater's lack of inches in the shooting circle made them vulnerable if the shot was missed and with time ticking away Storm managed to creep into the lead but were pushed all the way to the final whistle.
Team members: Karis Holleron, Imogen Setter, Courtney Steele, Emma Reynolds, Mary King, Hannah Symes & Morgan Middleton. Subs: Amy Kemmish, Katy Tasker & Annia Holleron. Coach: Amy Shaw
