A TALENTED footballer from Bridgwater made his debut for England Schools Under 18s against Australia on Sunday, describing it as an 'amazing experience'.
Andrew Venning, 18, played 65 minutes in the 0-0 draw and managed to test out the Australian keeper, stinging his palms on three occasions.
The Bridgwater College student played in an attacking midfield role and said he loved every minute of it.
He added: “The whole weekend was absolutely amazing and it was a real honour to represent your country and sing the national anthem.
“It was a good standard of football and a great bunch of lads in the squad too.
“There was around 200-300 people watching and I even got to sign my first autographs which was an experience.
“I think I would have just gone mental if I have scored.”
Venning attended a formal dinner and presentation of his kit on Friday evening and then trained with the squad on Saturday before the match at Wulfrunians AFC in Wolverhampton.
He will now look forward to a trip to Spain with the squad on February 13 where one of their planned matches is against Valencia.
