Hat-trick hero Tom Hurley helps Bridgwater College win 10-0

A CLINICAL display saw Bridgwater College Men’s Development football squad complete a 10-goal rout against Cornwall College.

The game burst into life as Matt Hurley’s 25-yard screamer in the first minute shocked Cornwall but it soon became 2-0 two minutes later as Tom Hurley beat two players to curl his shot into the top corner.

Tom Hopkins made it 3-0 after only eight minutes firing in an unstoppable shot from 25 yards and it was 4-0 on the quarter-hour mark when Adam Long bundled in a Tom Hurley cross.

Bridgwater made it 5-0 when Joe Grant’s teasing cross was deflected in for an own goal, Josh White made it 6-0 after his powerful header met Tom Hopkins corner, and Matt Hurley got his second on 40 minutes to give Bridgwater a 7-0 half-time lead.

The second half followed a similar pattern as Jared Pople made it 8-0; Tom Hurley grabbed his second and the team’s ninth before he sealed his hat-trick 10 minutes from time from the penalty spot.

l IN the women’s football, Bridgwater conceded two early goals against Yeovil in the first 10 minutes.

Devon Rich pulled one back for Bridgwater but Yeovil’s attacking prowess proved too strong as they ran to a 4-1 half-time lead.

Rich scored her second to make it 4-2 and after Yeovil had scored a further goal, Chelsea Pitt grabbed a consolation goal with the score ending 5-3.
