Bridgwater 1st XI 1, Bodmin 2 BRIDGWATER started brightly and made good use of the width to cause Bodmin problems, one such attack resulting in Chris Lines finding the back of the net.

Lines and Carwyn Jenkins were combining well up front and Lines then had a shot cleared off the line having lifted it over the keeper before Bridgwater’s own keeper, Pete Saunders, made a fine double to keep Bodmin at bay and lead 1-0 at the break.

The second half saw Bodmin score from open play after the Bridgwater defence stopped expecting a whistle and they took the lead through a short corner.

The home team were awarded a number of short corners in the final 10 minutes but were unable to find the net with Matt Slocombe going close.

Man of the match was Nathan Dyte.

Chard 2nd XI 6, Bridgwater 4th XI 0 THIS match saw the reintroduction of J. Rawles and C. Hobbs into the fourth team but they were unable to stop the team falling to defeat.

Despite some good shots by Dosson and Cook with help from the midfield, Chard broke on several occasions and things could have been worse had A. Baldwin, Kettlewell and Hubbard not been on hand to make key tackles.

The pressure on Bridgwater finally paid dividend for Chard as they put away four further chances to seal the win.

Man of the match went to Hubbard.

Bridgwater 5th 0, Chard B 4 BRIDGWATER’S fifth team were also defeated by Chard in this 4-0 loss.

The visitors opened the scoring after 10 minutes and added a second when the ball fell luckily into the path of a striker.

Keeper Jack Syvrett made some fine stops, but precision shooting from Chard saw them take a 4-0 half-time lead, which they kept until the final whistle.

Man of the Match was Syvrett.

Bridgwater Ladies 2nds 3, Weston 2nds 0 WITH all players available, Bridgwater fielded a strong side and looked dominant from the start as Kath Briggs and Kira G combined well, causing all sorts of problems for the Weston defence.

Bridgwater were without luck until the pressure finally paid off and player-of-the-match Briggs forced the ball over the line.

In the second half, Laura and Becky from defence pushed forward with Millie and Julie Reed controlling the middle and further goals were created.

Teign A 4, Bridgwater B 2 THE game was fast and furious but Teign managed to get the first breakthrough with a well-worked goal before Bridgwater hit back on the counter-attack through Payne who reverse swept the ball into the goal.

A questionable short corner saw Teign get their second goal and they extended it to 3-1 early in the second half.

Harry Stephenson thrashed the ball home for Bridgwater to make it 3-2 but Teign sealed the win late in the game.
